Outline of the KS-EGG Method
In recent years, the reduction of vibration and noise generated by construction work has become an issue in the smooth implementation of construction work, not only in urban areas but also in rural areas.
The KS-EGG method is a low-noise, vibration-free SCP method (Static Compaction Pile Method).
Vibration hammers used in the conventional vibrating SCP method have a large effect of vibration and noise on the surrounding area. It is sometimes difficult to carry out smooth construction work, especially in urban areas and areas close to structures. The KS-EGG method is capable of coping with such situations.
This is one of the density increasing methods that can improve the stability of the ground such as increasing the bearing capacity in the viscous ground as a countermeasure against liquefaction in sandy ground.
Features of the KS-EGG Method
- 〔No vibration and Low Noise〕 It can be carried out without vibration and noise because it is constructed by rotary penetration without using a vibration hammer. As a result, the impact of vibration and noise on nearby structures and the surrounding environment will be smaller than with conventional methods.
- 〔Certainty of Quality〕 When the casing pipe is penetrated, the compaction effect to the side is enhanced by pressing the original ground to the side without discharging the soil by the rotation of the excavation and diameter expansion head of the special shape. At the time of construction, the same compaction effect as the vibrating SCP method can be obtained.
- 〔High Construction Capacity〕 This method allows the casing pipe to be inserted even if there are some obstacles (gravel, etc.) or a hard layer (maximum N value: 25, layer thickness: approx. 2.0 m) on the installation site.As a result, it may not be necessary to carry out prior excavation in the vibratory SCP method, in which case inexpensive and quick construction can be expected.
- 〔Recycling〕 Recycled materials such as glass sand, recycled crushed stone and slag can be used as pile material.
